Thrive Despite Invisible Fences

On LinkedIn Learning a few weeks ago, I took a course on ‘Creating a Leadership Edge’ by Gemma Leigh Robert.

The focus of the course was on building resilience in the workplace; dealing with challenges, coping with them, overcoming them and then thriving.

Her Ideas about Thinking Traps and Performances resonated with me. A major thinking trap she emphasised was OVERGENERALISATION: That thought that things are tough or certain results cannot be achieved causing us to accept certain status quo we could ordinarily change.

I realised as I got older especially with every negative response I got to proposals and requests I make that I was losing courage to pursue my goals because NO stares me a lot on the face — something Robin Sharma tagged ‘INVISIBLE FENCES’.

Revisiting the course, I chose today to build courage and change my beliefs. Nothing really can hold you down except what you have permitted.

I would rather focus on Confidence, Adaptability and a Change in Perspective so we can continue to win.

I hope you will tag along.

Shalom
