“Sustained Failure Happens at the Consequence of Small” Robin Sharma

As I have been reminded, let me remind you of the Camel’s back Metaphor.

Pieces of straw kept getting piled on the back of the Camel. Each piece alone was light and caused little harm. But gradually, as each piece of straw got placed on the Camel’s back, the load eventually became heavy until a final straw added broke the Camel’s back.

Robin Sharma puts it correctly “A little neglect inevitably leads to businesses and lives of striking disrepair”.

For businesses, you see that tardiness you tolerate consistently in the workplace and in programmes, one day they will become the norm. These days in Nigeria, African time is the new norm. A programme is scheduled to commence by 4 pm and most people arrive by 6 pm or even 8 pm. Apart from our churches at the moment, this is the norm.

For our country Nigeria, we have come to that stage where politicians and many leaders have perfected the art of testing the depth of the water with 1 foot first. The moment they don’t get dragged in, they jump in with their 2 feet. As soon as the first experiment is passed, we go deeper descending into deeper levels of decadence continually practising policies that will one day destroy our country if we choose not to implement solutions to save our lives. (Soon Petrol will be 350, it is bad enough and we are all just silent)

In families, we misplace our values and create excuses of being too busy to pray, go on dates, plan, educate our children, and we wonder why there are too many teenagers who become adults indulging in drugs.

Robin Sharma said, “SUSTAINED FAILURE HAPPENS AS THE CONSEQUENCE OF SMALL, DAILY ACTS OF NEGLECT THAT STACK UP OVER TIME TO LEAD TO A BLOWUP, AND A BREAKDOWN”.

Nothing good happens by accident. Everything, before it is dead, can become great again, we just need to agree to make that happen weeding out anything and everything including everyone who doesn’t agree with the mantra of progress.

Shalom
