PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CORRECTION

One afternoon I went to an 805 restaurant in Wuse 2 Abuja to enjoy their usual sumptuous buffet with a friend. As we discussed while trying to choose from the array of foods served, one of the staff approached us and said, ‘discussions weren’t allowed around the food points because we may be spitting into the food other customers would likely eat when they arrive’.

Surprised at his statements, we agreed and didn’t talk anymore, but I didn’t find his intrusion polite even though he made sense.

Some other day, my friend and I went to the Ibeto hotel at Gudu, Abuja, to enjoy their lovely breakfast buffet. As we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted, by a lovely lady who requested us to pick up a face mask before proceeding with our food.

I smiled and said, ‘but covid is gone, why the mask?’ In response, she said, ‘just for other health reasons, you know I cannot stop you and your friend from discussing or taking calls as you move around. It is just to make sure the food is safe for everyone. My friend and I looked at each other and happily grabbed our face masks before proceeding to wack our meal.

TWO DIFFERENT SCENARIOS BUT THE SAME OBJECTIVE. The first, I didn’t find it funny and would have left if I wasn’t there with my guy. The second was very pleasant and more effective, and no spit would have gone into the food.

So what would you do today to Prevent rather than Correct or Cure?

Shalom
