NO PRICE IS TOO HIGH AND TOO HARD FOR YOUR DREAM

Lucy was in dire need of a job but lacked the qualifications to get a job that would pay her enough to take care of herself and her family. Her other option was to start a small business which would hopefully grow to help her meet her needs, but she lacked the funds, and no one was willing to help.

Her only option was to accept any job that she was qualified for to enable her to raise funds for her dream venture. Fortunately, she landed a cleaning job in a private firm and resumed in a week. She had to make the tough decision of leaving her kids in Minna to work in Abuja for at least a year to enable her to raise the capital she required.

As expected, she commenced her cleaning duties, but the task wasn’t what she expected. She was supposed to clean twice daily because there were a lot of footwalks around the premises and ensure the toilets were always clean. A visible checklist was in place to ensure compliance.

She had barely worked for two weeks, and there were those talks with other cleaners about how tedious the work was for the pay she was receiving. She planned to quit at the end of the month if she found another job that wasn’t so demanding. There were also other talks about ‘if I could just get someone to help me with 300k, I will just start my business and stay with my kids’. (as if it is easy in this Nigeria of today)

She sounded like someone who was not ready to make her dream come true. I have been on interview boards and have seen desperate faces of candidates praying that they would get jobs. The moment they get the jobs and commence, you see them complain about the enormity of the responsibility until they get fired for demotivating themselves and underperforming.

TD Jakes reminds me every morning I listen to him while exercising about the giants I must face daily if I ever want to succeed. “The bigger the giants, the bigger your success.” He posits.

It is the fifth (5th) month of the year already, and many of us have forgotten about our lofty plans and dreams because there have been setbacks, and those dreams now feel like they were too big.

We must remember that we conceive what we are capable of achieving. Perhaps, some crazy prices, hard work and sacrifice are required, and we can make those happen if we do not consider the requirements too high and too hard.

Have a blessed May 2023.

Shalom
