LEAD THE CHANGE

Many of us speak about different kinds of changes we want to see in our homes, work environments, places of worship, country etc. We hold several meetings and decide on new sets of actions we will carry out to become the change we want to see.

Oftentimes, what we find is that people go back to the things they are used to because habits are indeed very tough to break. Most times, no one is placed in charge, everyone waits for everyone to lead the charge. I ask myself like I will ask you WHY NOT BE THE PERSON TO LEAD THE CHARGE?

Clint Eastwood said, “sometimes if you want to see a change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands.”

  • If during a deliberation, you agreed with your team that work starts by 7:30 am, why not be the first to be there?
  • If you have agreed to resolve a dispute, why not be the first to extend the hand of peace offering?
  • If the action plan after a major training event is to document a process for work improvement, why not be the first to share the output of your work?

I have realised that where decisiveness matters most, especially when it has to do with changes, we tend to put up resistance. Everyone waits for someone else to take the next step. Leading the charge and taking the first step isn’t easy, but that may be the trajectory that could affect the lives of everyone positively.

BE THE CHANGE

Shalom.
